Easter Bunny visits Woodfield

The Easter Bunny will meet, greet and pose for pictures with visiting children during all normal hours at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg from Saturday, March 14 through Saturday, April 11. Digital photos taken by an on-site photographer will be available for purchase in packages raning from $15 to $42, though there is no obligation to buy photos. Mall hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, visit shopwoodfield.com or call (847) 330-1537.

Inverness swears in first chief

Robert Haas Jr. was slated to be sworn in as Inverness' first-ever chief of police by Village President Jack Tatooles on Tuesday night. Haas served as deputy police chief in Palatine prior to joining the new department. Inverness broke away from the Barrington force in order to save $1.3 million over the next five years. The new police department is scheduled to go live May 1. Haas, an Inverness resident with more than 27 years law enforcement experience, beat out 65 applicants for the top post.

New faces in District 54 posts

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 board members have appointed Nick Meyers as the new assistant superintendent for instructional services and Mary Botterman as the new principal of Aldrin Elementary School in Schaumburg. Meyers has been principal of the district's Anne Fox Elementary School in Hanover Park since 2005. He will succeed Peggy Kaufmann, recently named superintendent of Mount Prospect Elementary District 57. Botterman is currently assistant principal at the district's Hoover and Nerge elementary schools. She will succeed the retiring Mary Kay Marrello this summer.

Sale benefits two groups

The Randhurst Merchants Association has presented checks for $6,533 each to Northwest Suburban High School District 214 and the Mount Prospect Fire Department with funds generated by the Randhurst Shopping Center memorabilia sale held Jan. 16-17 after the inner court had been closed for conversion to a lifestyle center.
