Naperville hires temps

Naperville City Council has approved hiring 32 seasonal employees despite its hiring freeze. The move will cost about $267,551, which is a 38 percent reduction from last year. Some of the functions the temporary workers will fill include code enforcement, traffic counts, laboratory work and painting. City staff said some of the work can be done more economically with interns than hiring outside professionals or using full-time city staff.
