IC downs St. Edward
It was not a good night for the St. Edward girls basketball team.
Prior to their bus being involved in an accident on the way back from Elmhurst, the Green Wave suffered an unexpected 40-36 Suburban Catholic Conference loss to Immaculate Conception.
Katie Yohn led St. Edward (13-7, 5-3) with 21 points and Maddie Kerr added 8.
IC is now 7-13 overall and 2-7 in the SCC.
Girls basketball
Huntley 28, Crystal Lake Central 25: The Red Raiders remained undefeated in the Fox Valley (Fox) with this win. Leading Huntley (11-8, 3-0) with a team-high 7 points was Kadie Lowery.
McHenry 55, Dundee-Crown 46: The Chargers fell short to McHenry (8-11) in the Fox Valley (Valley). Melissa Summaria led the Chargers (2-18, 0-4) with 15 points and Megan Fasanella added 11.
Hampshire 58, Winnebago 49: Chrissy Heine scored 20 points to lead Hampshire (15-3) past Winnebago in a Big Northern crossover. Alex Dumoulin had 12 points for the Whip-Purs and Cassie Dumoulin added 9.
Waubonsie Valley 56, Larkin 31: Jessica Harris led Larkin (2-13, 0-4) with 11 points in this Upstate Eight Conference loss.
Jacobs 52, Woodstock 17: Sam Votjsek scored 14 points to lead the Golden Eagles (14-7, 2-1) past Woodstock in the Fox Valley (Valley). Keri Bultman added 11 points for Jacobs and Maria Tamburrino had 10. Woodstock played without leading scorer Molly Whiting for unknown reasons.
Boys basketball
Westminster Christian 50, Harvard 42: Westminster Christian came out victorious over Harvard (3-13) in nonconference action. Leading the Warriors was Mike Nicosia with 15 points. Ryan Beachler added 12 points for the Warriors (11-6).
Oswego East 70, Streamwood 64: Tem Esikiel scored 19 points but the Sabres (5-11) fell in nonconference action. Marcus Lewis added 11 points for Streamwood.
