Hampshire rolls to easy win

Hampshire (13-3, 5-0) raced out to a 31-10 lead at halftime then held North Boone scoreless in easily winning this Big Northern East contest 56-18 on the road. Cassie Dumoulin led the Whip-Purs with 17 points and Alex Dumoulin added 16. Chrissy Heine had 12 points for the Whips and Jackie Jeffries added 10.

"The Dumoulin sisters played really well tonight," said Whips coach Sue Ellett.

Burlington Central 53, Harvard 31: Jordan Maisto hit four 3-pointers and scored 22 points as Burlington Central (10-8, 3-1) won for the sixth straight time in this Big Northern East game. Taylor Colby added 12 points for the Rockets.

St. Edward 53, ACC 31: The Green Wave held Aurora Central scoreless in the second quarter, etsablishing a 34-4 halftime lead en route to this Suburban Catholic Conference win. Katie Yohn, who eclipsed the 1,500 point mark for her career over the weekend, led St. Edward (13-6, 5-2) with 17 points. Maddie Kerr added 10 while Callie Johnson and Val Gotheridge added 8 each for the Wave.

Durand 51, Westminster 31: Sarah Rodgers scored 12 points to lead Westminster Christian (2-9) in this nonconference loss. Rachel Doby added 8 points for the Warriors.

CL South 54, McHenry 32: Katie Burton had 11 points and Caitlin Mize 10 to lead the balanced Gators (15-2) to their 12th straight win in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division opener. Michelle Gaede and Carly Juliano added 8 points each for CL South.

Huntley 50, Grayslake North 30: Eleven players scored for Huntley (9-8), led bty Kadie Lowery's 10 points, as the Red Raiders opened the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division season with this win. Megan Martinez added 6 points and 9 rebounds for Huntley.

Lake Park 60, Elgin 35: The record was a foregone conclusion, but Samantha Arnold was pleased to get the 4 points she needed for the milestone out of the way early in Lake Park's 60-35 win at Elgin Tuesday night.

The 6-foot-4 forward, a four-year varsity starter committed to Michigan, scored 2 inside baskets in the first quarter to become the all-time leading scorer in Lake Park girls basketball history, eclipsing the previous record 1,906 points held by 1994 graduate Kelly Smith.

"It's awesome, such a good feeling," said Arnold, who finished with 18 points. "Just to have my teammates around me, playing with me. They do everything for me. Without them I couldn't have done this.

"I've put in a lot of work over the years building up to this. It's a great accomplishment. Since I came in here as a freshman, I've had great people surrounding me the whole way."

Arnold scored 11 points in the first quarter to stake Lake Park (14-4, 4-0) to an 18-13 lead. The Lancers pulled away with a 15-8 second quarter and outscored Elgin 14-8 in the third to take command.

Senior point guard Caris Alan scored 13 points and senior center Ellen Holton added 11 points for Elgin, which fell to 3-13 overall and 1-3 in the UEC.
