Green leads Warren to third straight win

Sarah Boothe and Lory Shaw may have graduated, but Warren's girls basketball team is back to its winning ways.

The suddenly hot Blue Devils won their third straight game Friday night, defeating visiting Zion-Benton 48-31 to improve to 4-5 and 3-1 in the North Suburban Lake Division.

Joree Green - Warren's lone returning starter - led the way with 12 points, 3 assists and 3 rebounds. Amanda Barger added 9 points for the home team, which led 19-12 at halftime before outscoring the Zee-Bees 23-8 in the third quarter. Morgan Garrett grabbed 8 rebounds.

Helena Rodriguez had 10 points for Zion-Benton, while Octavia Crump posted 11 rebounds.

Grant 67, Lakes 24: Gina Cellucci sank four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 15 points for the Bulldogs in the North Suburban Prairie contest.

Grant (6-4, 1-2) received 12 points apiece from Amber Potts and Rose Mustari.

Lakes (0-9, 0-3) was led in scoring by Mary Doupis and Amber Larsen with 8 points apiece.

Vernon Hills 51, North Chicago 47: The Cougars snapped a four-game losing streak, using a balanced scoring effort to hold on for the victory in the North Suburban Prairie game.

Mallory Feece had 12 points and 6 rebounds for Vernon Hills (2-7, 1-2), while Alana Coy added 11. Sarah Krippinger chipped in 9 points. The Cougars also got contributions from Jessica Feece (5 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals); Jessica Schwartz (5 points, 6 rebounds); and Julie Pecht (4 points, 3 steals).

Tatiana Webb had 16 points for North Chicago.
