West Chicago (2-6, 1-5) at Wheaton North (4-4, 2-4)
DuPage Valley Conference
Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.
Last year: Wheaton North 44, West Chicago 21.
Last week: West Chicago 42, West Aurora 28; Naperville North 27, Wheaton North 7.
Outlook: A second straight upset win would send West Chicago into the off-season on a tremendously high note. A third straight loss for the Falcons would end their playoff hopes. The Wildcats' double-wing offense is starting to fire on all cylinders, evidenced by last week's 370-yard rushing effort that was led by Alex Pirela's 182 yards and fullback Mike Dylla's 112 yards. The duo combined for 5 of the team's 6 touchdowns, giving Pirela 7 touchdowns in the last two games. First-year coach Hal Chiodo was pleased to see his team's hard work pay off with a big win. Wheaton North made it through a pair of tough weeks against the unbeaten DVC front-runners, although not without cost. Coach Joe Wardynski said running back Mike Trumpy, out the last game-and-a-half, won't play until his hamstring is 100 percent healthy. Led by the linebacker duo of John Sambo and Jack Quinn, the Falcons had one of their best defensive efforts of the season last week.
