Larkin wins one late

Knotted at 1-1 entering the second half, Larkin (19-1, 9-1) was looking for a way to close out an outstanding regular season with a win. With 8 nagging starters on the bench at the 74th minute, coach Ken Hall was convinced to put them in for the remaining four minutes. With 4 seconds left to play, Tony Feliciano came through, finding the back of the net off a feed from Raul Sandoval to give Larkin the 2-1 Upstate Eight Conference win over St. Charles East. David Hernandez scored the first Larkin goal assisted by Michael Berequin. Defending the Royal net, Raziel Somarriba (2 saves) and John Meidel (4 saves) split time.

Other games: Streamwood (16-4-4) closed out the regular season with a 2-1 nonconference win over Leyden. Christian Perez and Edgar Leyva each scored both assisted by Alex Aranda, while Alex Perez tallied 7 saves in goal... Trailing 2-1 at the half Crystal Lake South (9-13-1) fell just short to Round Lake 3-2. Alex Tapia and Jordan Innis scored for the Gators.
