Wheaton North (4-2, 2-2) at Wheaton Warrenville South (6-0, 4-0)
DuPage Valley Conference
Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.
Last year: WW South 32, Wheaton North 20.
Last week: Wheaton North 24, Glenbard East 21; WW South 41, West Aurora 7.
Outlook: The Tigers have won 33 straight regular-season games and 25 straight in the DVC. They haven't lost to Wheaton North since 2002. The Falcons come in limping, having lost quarterback Taylor Graham to a season-ending ankle break. Justin Swider, who adds a threat to run, has filled in admirably. Northwestern-bound running back Mike Trumpy missed last week with a hamstring injury, but coach Joe Wardynski said his 800-yard rusher may return tonight. Wardynski, the first-year coach who previously was WW South's defensive coordinator, is facing his former team for the first time. That brings extra motivation to the Tigers, who have suffered their own share of injuries and illness. Safety Kyle Blouin is out with mono and receiver Mack Tracey broke his wrist. The Tigers lean on quarterback Joe Furco, 500-yard rusher Peter Jarrett and Orlando Ross, another big-play receiver. The linebacker tandem of Pat Dansdill and James Eshleman is among the area's best.
