• The annual Elk Grove Village Character Counts Foot Rally will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, starting at the Pavilion Gazebo, 1000 Wellington Ave. The Foot Rally celebrates the six pillars of good character. Teens in grades 6, 7 and 8 are invited to join in this free event that travels through several familiar locations that are walking distance within the area.

• Make a Difference Food Pantry Drive will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25; five Elk Grove Village sites, including Walgreen's Stores, Jewel, Wal-Mart and Food 4 Less. CCC volunteers will be at these sites with lists of items that are needed by those less fortunate in our community.
