Schneiders lead Bartlett girls to title at Flyin' Hawk Invite
With three of the top five finishers in the girls race, the Bartlett Hawks took first place at the 7th Annual Flyin' Hawk Cross Country Invitational at Sunrise Park in Bartlett Saturday morning.
Sisters Alyssa and Kristen Schneider came in first and second respectively with times of 18:06 and 18:22, while Sam Salinas took fifth with a time of 18:37.
"That's pretty much been the support system," Alyssa said of her sister and Salinas. "We push each other."
"I wouldn't be running this fast if it wasn't for them," Kristen Schneider said.
Alexa Tovella finished 16th (19:41) and Joanna Niewiara 37th (20:32) for the Hawks.
Schaumburg took third and fourth place finishes from Britten Petrey (18:29) and Colette Falsey (18:30) while the Saxons finished fifth overall.
Huntley finished second as a team with an eighth-place finish from Amy Kahl (19:05) and Crystal Lake South finished third with a sixth-place finish from Marianne Collard (18:37).
Jessica Scheets (13th; 19:28) led St. Charles North to fourth, Mercedes Mancha (15th; 19:32) led Streamwood to seventh, Kelsey Sayner (11th; 19:21) paced West Chicago to eighth, Jordan Tuin (ninth; 19:13) helped South Elgin to ninth and Jacobs finished 10th.
Lincoln-Way Central took the top team spot in the boys meet with 4 of the top 10 individual finishes.
But Schaumburg's Pat Lesiewicz took first individually with a time of 15:16 to lead the Saxons to a fourth-place finish.
"Today, I started out with a ton of energy," Lesiewicz said. "That's always a big accomplishment taking first at a big invite like this."
CL South' Josh Uvodich took second with a time of 15:49 as the Gators finished fifth.
"I'm happy with the time drop," Uvodich said of the improvement from sixth place and a time of 16:09 last year. "The Schaumburg kid beat me last year and I really wanted to beat him this year though."
West Chicago took second with an 11th place finish from Dj Muzzy (16:35), Bartlett sixth with a 19th place finish from Alex Infusino (16:44) and Glenbard North took seventh behind eighth and 10th place finishes from Garret Gingras (16:30) and Eddie Schwab (16:32).
Huntley finished ninth behind sixth and ninth place finishes from Alex Beruscha (16:20) and Tyler Leibniz (16:31) while Jacobs finished eighth, Streamwood 11th and South Elgin 12th.
