Crystal Lake art exhibit will floor you

Exceed Flooring is set to host "Art That Floors You"- a special exhibit featuring large-scale artwork created by local, professional artists. The event kicks off with a reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at the Exceed Flooring showroom, 5186 Northwest Hwy. in Crystal Lake.

The larger-than-life pieces on display throughout the showroom include a 12-foot painting, a 7-foot tricycle, a 5-foot paper pulp person and even a dinosaur. The show features striking raku-fired pottery by Mary Obodzinski of Crystal Lake; life-size paper relief sculptures by Nancy Steinmeyer of Bull Valley; impressive landscape paintings by Joanna Gullick of Huntley; bold abstract paintings by Judith Nahill of Crystal Lake; massive oil and acrylic paintings by David Bergquist of Harvard; and gigantic found-object sculptures by Steven Van Trump of Galva.

After the reception, artwork will be on display from Sept. 27 through Nov. 14 during showroom hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The art exhibit is open to the public at no charge.
