Whips beat Hinkley-Big Rock; now 7-0

Hampshire's girls volleyball team moved to 7-0 on the season with a 25-15, 25-18 nonconference win over Hinckley-Big Rock Tuesday night. Leading the way for the Whips were Kara Wehrs (10 kills), Krissy Heine (10 kills) and Chessa Osiecki (10 digs).

Neuqua Valley d. Elgin: Despite timely contributions from Kendall Martin (8 kills), Lindsey Morrow (7 digs), Ellen Holton (4 kills) and Abbey Houde (16 assists), Elgin (3-4, 0-1) dropped this Upstate Eight Conference meeting with Neuqua Valley by scores of 25-12, 23-25, 25-16.

Burlington Central d. Larkin: Behind a strong outing from Stephanie Holthus (12 kills, 2 aces, 5 digs), Burlington Central (6-2) beat Larkin in two games (25-15, 25-13). Helping the Rockets' cause were Molly Turk (15 assists, 5 kills, 5 digs), Audrey Djukic (3 aces, 8 service points) and Taylor Scully (3 kills). For Larkin, Isadora Borrero (3 blocks, 2 kills) and Jessica Harris (2 kills) led the way.

Cary-Grove d. Johnsburg: Outplaying Johnsburg in a tight 28-26 Game 1, Cary-Grove (6-1) sealed the nonconference win with a 25-16 Game 2 victory. Kelly Lamberti had a big night for the Trojans with 10 kills, 9 digs and 4 blocks. Tori Sandstrom added 5 kills.

Dundee-Crown d. Grayslake North: After dropping the opener, Dundee-Crown (3-0) bounced back to take the next two games and beat Grayslake North in this Fox Valley Conference crossover matchup 21-25, 25-23, 25-22. Leading the attack for the Chargers were Stephanie Thorson (5 kills), Alyssa Sarrazine (4 kills) and Katie Cutinello (15 assists).
