• The next installment of the Bookventure series will focus on the science fiction genre at 7 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Wood Dale Public Library, 520 N. Wood Dale Road. Participants will be able to share book recommendations and learn about new titles from library staff. • Author Beth Finke and her guide dog Hanni will make an appearance at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Roselle Public Library, 40 S. Park St. Finke, author of "Hanni and Beth: Safe and Sound," will discuss guide dogs, how they are trained and how they help blind people stay safe during daily activities. • Three sessions of the Contemporary Book Discussion Group will meet at the Wheaton Public Library, 225 N. Cross St. Participants may attend at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4, 10 a.m. Sept. 9 or 10 a.m. Sept. 10. This month's book is "Loving Frank" by Nancy Horan.
