The first worship service for members of the Congregational United Church of Christ, was held May 3, 1959. But organizational work for the new church began months before that date. Such preparatory effort is a tradition at the Congregational UCC, and the yearlong celebration commemorates that tradition.

Months before the first worship, the church's founding pastor went door-to-door inviting Arlington Heights residents to consider being part of the new congregation. The calls totaled more than 1,500 and resulted in numerous home meetings with interested people. A steering committee was formed, and a church site was selected - all this before the church held its first worship. Since its founding the church has provided programs for spiritual growth and social outreach. It was instrumental in founding the area's first social services agency, and has a long history of mission.

Visitors are invited and welcome to attend the anniversary celebrations. Children will be included in the worship and dedication services.
