Hawaiian Luau set at Sunrise

Sunrise Assisted Living of Crystal Lake will hold its annual Hawaiian Luau celebration at noon Saturday, Aug. 23 at 751 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Route 176 and Mistwood), Crystal Lake. Lunch buffet starts at noon with entertainment by the Royal Polynesian Review at 1:30 p.m.

Register for Elgin basketball program

Registration is underway for the Fall Youth Basketball Program, kindergarten through eighth grade, at The Centre of Elgin. The fall session runs Oct. 11-Dec. 6 with no games the weekend of Thanksgiving. All games are played on Saturdays at The Centre with practices once a week.

Don't pass up this opportunity to get your children involved in this great program where they will learn skills of the game, teamwork, sportsmanship and have tons of fun. Auditions set for comedy in Huntley

On Sunday, Aug. 24, from 7 to 9 p.m., auditions will be held at the First Congregational Church of Huntley for the FCC Players' fall dinner theater production, the heartwarming comedy, "You Can't Take it With You" by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. The performances will be in the evenings on Nov. 8-9 and during the afternoon on Nov. 16. Sheri Storer will be the director; the assistant director will be Joey Dybdal.

Everyone is welcome to audition; no appointments or monologue are necessary. All roles are available. Bring an accurate list of rehearsal conflicts. Rehearsals will be two or three times a week for lead roles and approximately once a week for minor roles.
