Summer Soiree: 6:30 p.m. July 24, Autowerks, 1827 Janke Drive, Northbrook. Hosted by the North Suburban Medical Research Junior Board, the event will feature chefs from some of Chicago's premier restaurants and exotic cars. $175. L.A.P.P. garden: 3-7 p.m. July 24, Wauconda Farmer's Market. on Main Street from Liberty Street to village hall, Wauconda. The Lake Area Peace Partners Organization is raising money to fund a Peace and Sharing Garden in the Wauconda/Island Lake area. Produce from the garden will be shared with the Wauconda/Island Lake food pantry. Stop by the L.A.P.P. booth at the Wauconda Farmer's Market to learn more.

Raffle for Reading: Through July 26, Grayslake Area Public Library, 100 Library Lane, Grayslake. The Grayslake Library Foundation is holding their second annual Raffle for Reading fundraiser. Money raised will support the Library's new TeenSpace. Among the prizes are four tickets to the Aug. 3 Cubs/Cardinals game, a Weber gas grill and a $200 savings bond. Tickets are $5 each or 6 for $25 and can be purchased at the library. The winners will be drawn July 27. For information, call (847) 223-5313.

VHHS Dance Team car wash: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 26, Ernie's Shell & Car Wash at 909 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills. The Vernon Hills High School Varsity Dance Team car wash fundraiser. Ernie's will donate $1 for each car washed to the pom squad. All money collected will go toward costumes and other expenses for the squad's 2008-09 football, basketball and competition seasons.

Charity Run motorcycle ride: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 26, starting and ending at Cottage Tap, 18580 W. Old Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake. A motorcycle run to benefit hospitalized veterans and their families as well as special and needy children. All proceeds will be donated to American Legion Auxiliary programs. stops at Packer Inn, Wildlife Refuge, Bonnie & Clyde's, Lily Lake Resort and Boot Leggers. Busy Brains raffle: Through July 27. Busy Brains is holding a 50/50 raffle to support the construction of a children's museum in Lake County. Hadassah barbecue: 5:30 p.m. July 27, at a member's home. The Highland Park Group of Hadassah North Shore Chapter will hold a benefit barbecue for Hadassah Medical Organization. Youth Aliyah Dinner: 6:30 p.m. July 31, Mission Hills Country Club 1655 Mission Hills Road, Northbrook. Glencoe/ Northbrook/Winnetka and Mission Hills Hadassah Groups of North Shore Chapter fundraising dinner to support projects involved with Youth Aliyah/Children at Risk. Musical entertainment will be by violinist Alex Koffman and pianist Gail Mangurten. Admission is $36.
