Brownies collect for kids in shelter
Brownies from Troop 599 in Marengo recently visited Turning Point in Woodstock to donate "welcome bags" for children living in the shelter. Turning Point is McHenry County's advocate for victims of domestic violence, including offering temporary, secure shelter for up to 21 women and children a night.
The Brownies collected donations and placed them in specially decorated totes to give to young residents of the shelter under the direction of troop leaders Amy Cederlund and Kenda Martin. The bags including presents and treats to help the shelter residents feel "at home" in their new surroundings.
