Wrap: Glenbard East 6, Wheaton North 5

Alyssa Gianatasio doubled in Colleen Shannon with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning for Glenbard East in its 6-5 softball victory Tuesday against Wheaton North.

Gianatasio also cracked her ninth home run of the season and drove in 4 runs for the host Rams (9-14-2, 4-5 DuPage Valley Conference).

Glenbard North 5, Naperville North 0: Elisabeth Walter went 3-for-3 with a homer and 3 runs batted in and Hannah Santora (11-4) pitched a 2-hit shutout for the Panthers (12-7, 5-4 DVC). Sammy Marshall had 2 hits for the Huskies (12-11, 2-8).

Neuqua Valley 4, Streamwood 3: Hailey Jackson (5-3) struck out nine and Kandice Gustafson drove in 2 runs for the Wildcats (14-10, 10-5 Upstate Eight Conference).

Bartlett 4, Waubonsie Valley 3: Ally Seplak went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI for the Warriors (5-16, 3-10 Upstate Eight Conference).

Glenbard South 11, Batavia 0: Jill Trzaska (11-1) struck out nine and Lauren Podgorski went 2-for-3 with a stolen base and scored 2 runs for the Raiders (17-5, 9-0 Western Sun Conference). Jennifer Wittenberg had 2 hits and scored 2 runs.

Sandburg 6, Downers Grove South 0: Brittany Gardner struck out 12 as top-ranked Sandburg (24-1) snapped the Mustangs' nine-game winning streak. Kayla Gull had 2 hits for Downers Grove South (18-4).

West Chicago 6, Driscoll 3: Mary Connolly and Megan Scott both had 2 hits, scored a run and drove in a run for the Wildcats (14-7).

Montini 9, Wheaton Academy 2: The Broncos scored 7 runs in the top of the ninth inning. Jessica Smith, Caley Weidacher and Fabiana Sullo all had doubles for Montini.

Downers Grove North 8, Hinsdale Central 7: Ellen Jagielo's 2-run homer in the sixth, her first of the season, rallied Downers Grove North.

Elmwood Park 3, Fenton 0: Amber Schwarzinger struck out seven for the Bison (15-8, 5-3 Metro Suburban Conference), but Elmwood Park beat Fenton for the second straight day.

Chicago Christian 2, Timothy Christian 0: Janna Strodtman struck out six for the Trojans (11-12, 9-5 Private School League), who were limited to one hit.

Baseball

Montini 14, Driscoll 12:ŒAndrew Brauer blasted his sixth and seventh homers of the season and drove in 7 runs as the Broncos (12-6, 7-4) won a wild one in the Suburban Catholic Conference. Pat Kulczycki (2-0) pitched 3 innings of relief to notch the victory. Rick Divito and Mark Doroba each had 2-run home runs for Driscoll (17-7, 9-2).

Glenbard North 3, West Chicago 2:ŒThe Panthers (7-10, 7-8) rallied from a 2-0 first-inning deficit to notch their fifth straight victory in the DuPage Valley Conference. Mike Zoellner was the complete-game winning pitcher. The Panthers scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Alex Mullendore singled home Justin Wahrman with two outs.

Naperville North 15, WW South:Œ4 The Huskies (17-8, 9-6) scored 8 runs in the first inning to seize control of the DuPage Valley Conference game. Jordan Tassio launched a 3-run homer and tripled. Jake Naumann improved to 6-2 on the mound.

Glenbard West 14-9, Willowbrook 10-4:ŒAfter the Hilltoppers (12-12) won a suspended game in the opener, they broke out to an 8-1 lead in the second nonconference game to earn the sweep.

York 2, Hinsdale Central 1:ŒThe Dukes (16-10, 6-7) won for the 12th time in 13 games. Steve Adkins (3-3) struck out 10 in the West Suburban Silver showdown. Luke Regole and Brian Sloan each drove in a run.

Girls soccer

Naperville Central 4, Glenbard East 0:ŒNaperville Central (17-4, 6-0 DuPage Valley Conference) earned the 400th victory in program history and Krissy Many earned the shutout in goal. Casey Short, Hillary Scott, Kelly Blumberg and Jackie Renn had the goals.

Neuqua Valley 2, St. Charles East 0:ŒRachel Suther earned the shutout as the Wildcats ran their record to 14-5, 8-2 in the Upstate Eight Conference.

Andrew 3, Wheaton Academy 2:ŒLeah Fortune scored off a Tatum Teevans pass and Alexa Sharkey tallied unassisted, but the Warriors (12-6-1) lost after giving up 2 goals in the final 10 minutes on the road.

WW South 2, West Aurora 0:ŒLiz Ciesielski scored in the first half, and Jill Langlas notched a second-half goal off an assist from sister Sarah Langlas. Kaitlyn Barnes had 2 saves for the shutout as the Tigers won in the DuPage Valley Conference.
