Wrap: Falcons outhomer Glenbard North

The Wheaton North and Glenbard North baseball teams combined for 3 home runs in the Falcons' 5-4 DuPage Valley Conference victory.

Trey Martin hit a home run and a double and Ryan Javech knocked a homer for DVC-leading Wheaton North (13-4, 8-1). Pitcher Aric Dama earned the win. Tyler Doll hit a home run and Justin Wahrman doubled for Glenbard North (2-9, 2-7).

Naperville North 12, West Aurora 11: The Huskies scored 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth and survived West Aurora's six-spot in the top of the seventh of the DuPage Valley Conference game in Naperville. Naperville North (12-6, 5-4) got home runs from Jordan Tassio and Alex Helms and 3 hits including a double from Ben Kelsey. Nick Gianini (1-0) earned the win on the mound.

Hinsdale South 4, Morton 0: Ryan Zenger (4-0) threw a 2-hitter with 14 strikeouts in the West Suburban Gold game in Berwyn. Alex Perez had 3 hits and Gary Mayberry had 2 with a triple for Hinsdale South (11-8, 8-2).

Softball

Wheaton Warrenville South 1, Wheaton North 0: Virginia McAndrews threw a no-hitter with six strikeouts to make the Tigers' third-inning run hold up in the DuPage Valley Conference game. Wheaton North freshman Kahla Nolan allowed only 4 hits.

Neuqua Valley 9, St. Charles North 2: Pitcher Lindsay Colvin improved to 4-1 in the Upstate Eight Conference win for Neuqua Valley (9-9, 6-4). Summer McKenzie had 3 hits with 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Colleen Hohman had 3 hits and 4 RBI.

Benet 8, Oswego East 3: After fouling off eight pitches with two strikes, Laura Canulli hit a bases-clearing double in the Redwings' (12-6) nonconference win in Lisle. Claire Geyer added 2 hits.

Montini 1, Driscoll 0: Winning pitcher Lara Mangialardi (3-4) and losing pitcher BreAunna Medinger (3-6) allowed a combined 7 hits in the Suburban Catholic Conference game played at Benedictine University in Lisle. Montini (4-6, 2-3) scored in the fourth when a runner at third came home after an errant pickoff throw. Driscoll fell to 7-12, 2-7. A scheduled doubleheader postponed by rain, Game 2 will be played at 7 p.m. today at Benedictine.

Lake Park 7, Elgin 0: In a 4-inning Upstate Eight Conference contest, Lake Park (13-2, 9-2) received a Missy Mazur (10-2) no-hitter. Vicki Tomaka had 3 hits including a double.

Waubonsie Valley 18, East Aurora 2: Waubonsie Valley (3-13, 2-7) pitcher Lauren Thresh (1-4) threw a no-hitter and the Warriors cracked 15 hits in the Upstate Eight Conference game. Kayleigh Crouch had 3 hits and Jamie Coit, Jess Lobraco, Kara Weiss and Tori Spears each had 2 apiece.

St. Francis 9, Wheaton Academy 1: In a 5-inning nonconference game, Jenny Eldridge cracked a 2-run double in support of St. Francis freshman pitcher Taylor Ronchetto (2-4). The Spartans improved to 8-7.

Oak Park 6, Glenbard West 3: Jayme Hefler and Ericka Lew each had 2 hits for Glenbard West in the West Suburban Silver game. Cassie Goggin (5-2) took the loss.

Hinsdale South 3, Willowbrook 0: Maggie Nowak had 3 hits and scored a run in West Suburban Gold action. Hinsdale South starting pitcher Carly Hinni allowed 2 hits and struck out 14 through 6 innings, Amy Narotsky coming on for the save.
