Briefs: MCC to drop stadium plan
The McHenry County College board of trustees is expected to terminate plans to build the $26 million baseball stadium and Health, Wellness and Athletic Complex at its Thursday night meeting. The project had been on hold ever since the Crystal Lake City Council voted against it in October. The school previously approved the plans in May, but their actual construction was contingent on the city council's vote.
Flu discussion set
Algonquin and McHenry County Health Department officials will hold an informational meeting to discuss the pandemic influenza at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at village hall, 2200 Harnish Drive. Call (847) 658-2700.
Gilberts hosts blood drive
Gilberts Elementary School and the village's Community Emergency Response Team are sponsoring a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The drive will be held at the elementary school, 729 Paperbark Lane. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. Sixteen-year-olds can donate blood only with parental permission. GOP whip visits Judson
House Republican Whip Roy Blunt will deliver Judson University's commencement address on May 3. Blunt, a Missouri congressman, became majority whip leader in 1997.
