MCC offering new welding program

McHenry County College's Corporate and Continuing Education Department is offering introductory and advanced Welding Boot Camp classes.

The introductory Welding Boot Camp program is a 40-hour course designed to provide students with a basic understanding of and hands-on experience in the welding profession.

Training will include instruction in basic welding technology and terminology, blueprint reading, basic math used in the welding trade, basic welding skills and plant safety. Challenging exercises hone the student's skill level.

Graduates of the introductory classes are eligible for advanced welding classes at MCC. Advanced welding classes offer an additional 20 hours of intensive training with a focus in either MIG or TIG welding.

Graduates of both the introductory or advanced classes are eligible for resume assistance, interview training and job search assistance.

These course sections are available:

• Class ID NWL C01 006: Introductory level, 6 to 9:30 p.m., Monday/Wednesday, April 28 to June 9. Fee is $1,000.

• Class ID NWL C01 008: Introductory level, 8 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday/Thursday, June 3 to July 15. Fee us $1,000.

• Class ID NWL C01 007: Introductory level, 6 to 9:30 p.m., Tuesday/Thursday, June 24 to Aug. 5. Fee is $1,000.

• Class ID NWL C02 004: Advanced level, 6 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday/Thursday, May 27 to June 12. Fee is $500.

All classes will be held at the Woodstock Center, 912 Trakk Lane in Woodstock.
