Wrap: Lake Park tops Elgin

Lake Park 1, Elgin 0: Containing the Lake Park offense until the final 9 minutes of play, Elgin (0-4-1, 0-3-1) lost a heartbreaker in Upstate Eight Conference play. Yesenia Meza defended the Elgin net collecting 17 saves.

Dundee-Crown 4, Woodstock 2: Dundee-Crown (2-6-2, 2-2) earned win No. 2 of the season and victory No. 2 in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division action led offensively by Licia Keyes who racked up two goals and an assist.

Meghan Elgan and Lindsay Tarte added to the attack with single goals, while Clare Mazurkiewicz, Katie Dunning and Kailyn Quinn each added assists. In goal, Deanna Libricz tallied 4 saves.

St. Charles North 7, Streamwood 0: Simply overpowered, Streamwood (4-7-1, 1-3-1) fell in Upstate Eight Conference action. Pearl Patel recorded 6 saves in a losing effort.

Jacobs 2, McHenry 1: Jacobs (4-7, 2-1) picked up its third consecutive win defeating McHenry in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division action. Trailing 1-0 at the half, goals by K.C. Roller and Kelsey Quitschau assisted by Melanie Parra and Ashley Bliznick respectively put them on top. Both goals came after the 60th minute.

Monica Orjuela (10 saves) defended the net for Jacobs.

Huntley 2, CL Central 1: Huntley's 10-game win streak was on the line as they ended regulation in a 1-1 tie with Fox Valley Conference Fox Division foe Crystal Lake Central. The two shared the FVCF title last year.

But after two scoreless overtimes, the Red Raider offense came through outscoring the Tigers 4-2 in penalty kicks for the 2-1 win.

Kristina Barretto had the lone goal of regulation for Huntley (11-0, 2-0) assisted by Kaylee O'Brien. Successful penalty kicks came from Megan Hamm, Ashley Williams, Alyse Williams and Alyssa Silvestri.

In goal, Sarah Hoffman had one save, and stopped two penalty kicks. Kaytlyn Owens spent some time in the net blocking one shot on goal.

Bartlett 2, Larkin 1: After a scoreless first half, Bartlett (3-3-2, 2-3-1) scored two second half goals to pull ahead of Larkin (3-6-2, 1-2-1) for this Upstate Eight Conference win. Becky Gabrys put Larkin on top early with an unassisted knock, but late goals from Bartlett's Becca Cronin (Luisa Desario assist) and Rachel Irwin (Fran Abate) put the Royals away.

Erin Zaidman (3 saves) was on goalkeeper duty for the Hawks, while Anna Goodlove racked up 9 saves for Larkin.

South Elgin 6, East Aurora 0: With goals from six different players, South Elgin (1-8-1, 1-5) got its first win of the 2008 campaign as well as its first shutout.

Ashley Naccarato put the Storm on the board assisted by Jessica Hantak who handled goal No. 2 off a dish by Rachel Musnicki. Kristina Lopienski scored next unassisted followed by goals from Jenna DiCarlo (Musnicki assist), Gina Simone (Lopienski) and Moserrath Bustamante (Lindsey Helton pass).

In goal, Danielle Wagner preserved the shutout.

"The girls played well," said coach Tiffany Disher. "It was good to see them finish, and the played as a team. This was a complete team win.

"The girls felt great, and this was a nice confidence builder."

Prairie Ridge 1, Grayslake Central 0: Prairie Ridge (3-4, 2-1) continues to be a force in the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division earning this 1-0 shutout over Grayslake Central. Kelsey Klein had the lone goal of the contest off a pass from Megan Biner.

Kyli Humm was impenetrable in goal blocking 10 shots for the shutout.
