Local authors talk about works at store

Seven local authors will be gathering to participate in a free event, Meet the Author, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Open Door Illuminating Gifts, 314 Northwest Hwy. in Fox River Grove.

Authors will be in the spotlight for about 20 minutes to discuss their book, their inspiration, their intention, the reason for writing this book. Some may give a short reading.

Additionally, the authors will welcome visitors, fans and browsers at their individual tables during the afternoon to ask questions and purchase a book for signing. The authors are all local; hometowns include Crystal Lake, Cary, Mount Prospect, Johnsburg and Barrington,

Free raffles with drawings of books will be held throughout the afternoon. Several genre of books are represented, including: inspirational, motivational, fiction, poetry, self-help and creative biography. Light refreshments will be available.

The schedule of talks is:

• "Parenting Power Struggle Handbook" by psychologist Timothy J. Hayes at 1 p.m.

• "Living in the Light" by Alice Sweet at 1:30 p.m.

• "Wake Up and Live the Life You Love" by Dan Hanneman at 2 p.m.

• "Positive Force" by Tim Stewart at 2:30 p.m.

• "Roadside Diner" by poet David McKenna at 3 p.m.

• "Prisms of Spiritual Growth and Evolvement" by Elda du Plessis at 3:30 p.m.

• "An Invitation to Personal Peace" by Kay Guzder and Dr. Mike Davison at 4 p.m.
