• The eighth annual Self-Employment in the Arts conference will be Friday and Saturday at the Hilton Lisle/Naperville, 3003 Corporate West Drive, Lisle. The keynote speaker will be "Ziggy" cartoonist Tom Wilson. The event, aimed at helping artists build profitable careers, also will include workshops, panel discussions, gallery exhibits and portfolio reviews. • Children ages 9 to 16 may audition for the musical "Robin Hood" from 3 to 5 p.m. March 1 at Steel Beam Theatre, 111 W. Main St., St. Charles. No appointments are necessary.
