Elgin Community College's Illinois Small Business Development Center will host "Put on Your Big Girl Pants and Sell Something: Five Ways to Double Your Sales Now," the first in a series of women's inter-group networking luncheons at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. Speaking at the luncheon will be Maureen O'Brien, CEO and founder of O'Brien & Son Inc., a motivational speaker. After O'Brien's presentation and lunch, there will be a presentation by Ellen Huxtable, ECC's entrepreneur event coordinator. Cost is $25 for members of Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Alliance of Professional Women and the Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce Women in Business, and the following participating chambers of commerce: Algonquin/Lake in the Hills, Hoffman Estates, Northern Kane, St. Charles, Streamwood and West Chicago. Volunteer to help seniors

Faith in Action of McHenry County, a not-for-profit group that provides assistance at no cost to senior citizens living at home, is looking for new volunteers to help in the cities of Marengo, and Union. The organization provides volunteer services such as transportation, shopping, friendly visits, respite for caretakers, light housekeeping and light yard cleanup. E. Dundee offers college aid

The East Dundee Dynegy Scholarship applications are now available at East Dundee village hall, 120 Barrington Ave. This scholarship recognizes superior academic achievements for students planning on attending college. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from high school or a current college student attending at least part time with a grade point average of 3.2 and who is an East Dundee resident. The recipient will receive $1,000 each year for up to four years. Applications are due on or before April 1. Call (847) 426-2822.
