Elgin, Larkin to meet again

The Illinois High School Association released pairings for the Class 3A and Class 4A boys basketball postseason on Friday and yes, there will be another Elgin-Larkin game this season.

Seeded third in the Class 4A Larkin regional, Elgin will take on the No. 6 seed host Royals in the 8 p.m. game on Monday, Feb. 25. The winner will face top seed St. Charles North the next night.

No. 4 seed South Elgin will take on No. 5 Streamwood in the regional opener at 6 p.m. on Feb. 25 with that winner coming back on Feb. 27 to play No. 2 seed St. Charles East. The regional title game is Feb. 29.

The Larkin regional winner joins champs from regionals at Hononegah, Rockford Boylan and Crystal Lake South in the Jacobs sectional.

Jacobs is the top seed at the CLS regional and will play either South or Prairie Ridge on Feb. 26. South and PR play on Feb. 25. On Feb. 27. No. 2 seed Cary-Grove takes on No. 3 Dundee-Crown with the title game also set for Feb. 29.

Hononegah is the top seed in its regional as is Boylan in its.

The Jacobs sectional winner meets the Barrington sectional champ in the NIU supersectional.

Bartlett will host a regional that is part of the East Aurora sectional. The Hawks, seeded No. 8, will take on No. 10 seed East Aurora on Feb. 27. Batavia, the East Aurora complex top seed, will be at Bartlett as well and will face either Benet or Lake Park in the semifinals on Feb. 26.

Regional winners from Naperville North, Waubonsie Valley and Willowbrook also advance to East Aurora. Waubonsie is the No. 2 seed, West Aurora No. 3 and Wheaton North No. 4.

The East Aurora sectional champ advances to the Chicago State University supersectional to face the winner of the Oak Lawn Richards sectional.

Class 3A: Burlington Central is the top seed at the Sycamore regional but would likely have to beat the No. 2 seed Spartans on their own floor to win its first big-school regional title. The Rockets open regional play against either Sandwich or Kaneland on Feb. 26, with Sycamore taking on either Oswego or Yorkville the next night.

Huntley is also a part of the Freeport sectional complex with BC, but the Red Raiders will head to Crystal Lake Central for regional action, where they are the top seed. Huntley will play either Richmond-Burton or Marian Central in the semifinals. The other semi pits CL Central against Johnsburg.

Within the Freeport sectional complex, Marengo and Dixon are the other regional hosts. Rockford Lutheran is the top seed at Marengo and Sterling the top seed at Dixon.

The Freeport sectional winner plays the Galesburg sectional champ in the NIU supersectional.
