Baseball
New players wanted: The Chicago North Men's Senior Baseball League is seeking new players for the upcoming 2008 season. The league is baseball using MLB rules. There are four age divisions: 25 and over, 35 and over, 45 and over, and 55 and over. The season runs from May to September with between 25 and 30 games, played at fields in Des Plaines, Northbrook and Bensenville.
The signup deadline is Feb. 28. A league-wide new player evaluation session will be held at 1 p.m. March 1. The cost per-player is approximately $300 for the season. Football
Early registration: The Wauconda/Island Lake Falcons will host early registrations for the 2008 football season from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 23 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 24 at Wauconda High School, 555 N. Main Street, Wauconda.
The program is dedicated to teaching children ages 5 to 14 the fundamentals of football in a fun and educational environment. An emphasis is placed on individual skills development, confidence, teamwork and good sportsmanship to help aspiring young athletes become better football players and citizens.

Poms
Poms clinic: Girls in kindergarten through eighth grade are welcome to attend the Poms Clinic, dance with the Prospect Poms and perform at halftime during the Jan. 26 basketball game. Registration is at 11 a.m. and the clinic will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 26 in the cafeteria at Prospect High School. Registration is $30 per girl. The clinic includes a T-shirt, drink and snack. All girls will perform a dance routine at halftime of the boys' varsity game which begins at 6 p.m. Girls need to arrive at 5:45 p.m.

Swimming
CATS Aquatic Swim Team: Kyle Aerne, Morgan Dickson, Kirk Dickson and Michelle Garland were selected by Illinois Swimming to participate in the Mid-States Quadrangular meet Jan. 5 and 6 at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis. These swimmers helped Team Illinois finish second. CATS Age Group Head Coach, Jeff Arce, was also selected by Illinois Swimming to be the head coach for Team Illinois for Mid-States and Zone Championships meets in 2008.
The CATS Aquatic Swim Team is the feeder program to district 128 high schools and welcomes athletes from other areas as well. It provides athletes from age 5 through college to develop at all levels of competitive and developmental swimming. Try-outs are held twice each year in April for the spring/summer sessions and in September for the fall/winter sessions. For details, visit www.cats-aquatics.com.
