• Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Linda M. Kirby recently completed Naval Nuclear Power Training Pipeline. Kirby qualified as a Naval nuclear operator. She is the daughter of Jennifer Kirby of Villa Park and Cesare J. Kirby of Lombard. Kirby is a 2003 graduate of Willowbrook High School, Villa Park, and joined the Navy in February 2006.

• Navy Seaman Recruit Benjamin S. Prager recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. He is the son of Stanley E. Prager of Aurora. Prager is a 2007 graduate of North Branch High School, North Branch, Minn.

• Army National Guard Pvt. Andrzej M. Lawniczak has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. The private's mother, Ewa Uszpolewicz, resides in Addison.

• Air Force Master Sgt. Robert L. Speer II has retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of military service. Prior to retiring, Speer served as section chief, Command and Control Contingency Plans and Training for the 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, Wash. Speer grew up in Spokane and joined the military in 1986. Some of his major military awards and decorations include five awards of the Air Force Commendation Medal, three awards of the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, six Air Force Good Conduct Medals, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals. He is the son of Gerald L. Speer of Glendale Heights.

• Army Reserve Pvt. Tony S. Morabito has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky. Morabito is the son of Perry and Michelle Morabito of West Chicago.

• Navy Seaman Recruit Darius A. McCullough recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. He is the son of Joyce A. and Derrick A. McCullough of Aurora. McCullough is a 2007 graduate of Aurora West High School, Aurora.

• Navy Seaman Recruit Angela G. Bosgraaf recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes. She is the daughter of Robin L. Bosgraaf of Aurora. Bosgraaf is a 2004 graduate of Lansing Everett High School, Lansing, Mich.

• Russell T. Fu has graduated from the Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. The ROTC cadet has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army. He is the son of Russell V. Fu of Naperville and Susan C. Fu of Willow Springs. Fu is a 2004 graduate of Montini Catholic High School, Lombard.

• Army National Guard Pfc. Thomas W. McClure has been mobilized for a future deployment to an undisclosed overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The private is a combat medic normally assigned to the 708th Medical Company, North Riverside. He is the son of Tamela D. Kartholl of Lombard.

• Army National Guard Spec. Alejandro Reyes has been mobilized for a future deployment to an undisclosed overseas location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The specialist is a wheeled vehicle mechanic normally assigned to the 708th Medical Company, in North Riverside. He is the son of Gregoria Lopez of Carol Stream. Reyes is a 2004 graduate of Bartlett High School, and has served in the military four years.

• Air Force Tech. Sgt. John David A. Gasa has been selected to attend Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Ala. Selectees, both Air Force members and civilians, are chosen by a special board to attend OTS to be commissioned as second lieutenants in the Air Force upon graduation. Gasa is a weather flight chief with 10 years of military service. He is the son of William M. Gasa of Winfield and Carol B. Gasa-Kittler of Whittier, Calif.

• Army National Guard Pvt. Bing Li has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Li earned distinction as an honor graduate. She is the daughter of Min Li of Naperville. The private is a 2007 graduate of Neuqua Valley High School, Naperville.

• Daniel W. Durkin graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Wash. Cadets in their junior and senior year of college must complete the leadership development course. Upon successful completion of the course, the ROTC program, and graduation from college, cadets are commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army, National Guard, or Reserve. The cadet is a student at the University of Illinois, Chicago. He is the son of Thomas P. and Sue E. Durkin of Downers Grove. Durkin is a 2004 graduate of Downers Grove High School.

• Army Pvt. James E. Greenberg has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Darlene Greenberg of Jackson, Miss., and grandson of Barbara Williams of Aurora. Greenberg is a 2007 graduate of Youth Challenge Academy, Hattiesburg, Miss.
