McHenry County Historical Society honored
The McHenry County Historical Society, headquartered in Union, received two Awards of Excellence from the Illinois Association of Museums.
One award was for a continuing advertising campaign involving magnetic signs for vehicles. "Got History" signs direct individuals to the McHenry County Historical Society Web site.
The second award was for the newly opened two-year exhibit featuring Fox River Grove history titled "Arrival: the 1920s." Through the recollections of two families who came to the Grove area during that decade, visitors will experience the changes occurring during a time of social upheaval, increased leisure time the impact of automobiles and Prohibition.
The award committee called it "a job well done."
The museum will remain open through October and for a special Christmas Open House Dec. 1.
