Round-up: Alfaro's goal and assist pace Panthers

Round Lake's boys soccer team picked up another win Wednesday night.

Gilberto Alfaro and Cesar Garcia scored, as the Panthers and keeper Joe Landa shut out visiting Vernon Hills 2-0 in North Suburban Prairie Division action.

Alfaro also had an assist, as did David Tellez for Round Lake (5-4-1, 3-1), which scored a goal in each half.

Girls volleyball

Libertyville d. Wauconda: Emma Melendez served 5 aces and 11 points for the Wildcats, who won the North Suburban Conference crossover 25-11, 25-21.

Amber Bryant added 2 aces for Libertyville (14-4), which also received 8 kills from Emma Mach and 12 assists from Erin DeMarco. Ali Haws had 4 kills and 2 blocks, and Dani Kopera served for 7 points (1 ace).

"Excellent serving was key to our victory," Wildcats coach Chris Trzyna said. "Our passing allowed us to run a balanced attack. Overall, it was a good team effort."

Wauconda fell to 14-11.

R-B d. Round Lake: On Tuesday night, Richmond-Burton won 25-15, 25-20.

Labrenthia Murdock had 4 kills for the Panthers, and Brittany Kucia lofted 7 assists.

Girls tennis

Stevenson 3, Mundelein 2: The Patriots received wins from Sima Kovalevskaya (No. 2 singles), Jenna Singer/Deena Zaiff (No. 2 doubles) and Brynne Dawnum/Ally Rappaport (No. 3 doubles).

Mundelein's Hanne McDonald captured first singles, and the Mustangs' Karlie Alms/Paige Parola won first doubles.

Lake Zurich 3, Warren 2: The Bears' winners were Margaret Boden (No. 2 singles), Bailey Wagner/Jen Hacker (No. 2 doubles) and Val Wilson/Gina Malickal (No. 3 doubles).

Lake Zurich improved to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the North Suburban Lake Division.

Warren got wins from Michelle Dutt (No. 1 singles) and Allison Strakusek/Taylor Ackerman (No. 1 doubles).

Vernon Hills 3, Grant 2: The Cougars pulled out the North Suburban Prairie Division match, receiving victories from Alyssa Krizmanich (No. 2 singles), Liza Xu/Colleen Rhoades (No. 1 doubles) and Kelsey Wolff/Tia Ginakakis (No. 3 doubles).

Grant's winners were Kira Funk (No. 1 singles) and Mary Roath/Emily Winograd (No. 2 doubles).
