ECC trustees report actions at recent meeting
In a meeting Sept. 11, the Elgin Community College District 509 Board of Trustees took the following actions:
• Renewed an agreement with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra to provide apprenticeships to talented young musicians and for the college to provide some specific services through June 30, 2010.
• Purchased janitorial supplies for one year from the following businesses: North American Corp. of Glenview, for paper products at $26,164.70; Runge Paper Co. of Elk Grove Village for can liners at $10,254.85; and Performance Chemical and Supply of Richton Park for cleaning products at $12,425.39.
• Authorized printing and mailing of two class schedules, one from P&P Press of Peoria for $17,639 and the other from Warner Offset of South Elgin for $26,218.
• Authorized repair and maintenance services of semi-trucks and trailers used in the college's truck driving instructional program from Mobile Fleet Inc. of Woodstock not to exceed of $41,000 annually.
• Purchased a ShoreTel enterprise phone system from WAN Communications Corp. of Oak Park for $460,052.61. The new system replaces the college's present phone system.
• Purchased storage servers to enhance the college's information technology network from Hipskind Technology Solution Group of Hinsdale not to exceed $113,000.
• Purchased paper stock for in-house graphics and print services from Lindenmeyer Munroe of Carol Stream not to exceed $60,000.
• Contracted for annual college-wide lock and keying systems from Omni Lock Service of Algonquin not to exceed $26,000.
• Contracted for annual environmental services to dispose of chemical and biohazard wastes from SET Environmental Inc. of Wheeling not to exceed the amount of $25,000.
• Contracted for annual chemical treatment of water used in the college's boiler and cooling systems from WET USA Inc. (World Environmental Technologies) of Streamwood not to exceed $45,000.
• Contracted for annual service agreements on sound systems used in the Events Center and Culinary Arts Center with Sound Vision of Elgin in the amount of $6,475 and $7,092, respectively.
• Purchased consulting services for the replacement of roofing on the Industry Training Center and associated buildings on Fleetwood Drive from Structural Technologies Inc. of Bloomingdale for $17,450.
• Accepted gifts of books, magazines, vehicles, refreshments and stainless steel cut-outs to benefit a variety of ECC programs from college employees.
