Marklund needs volunteers
Marklund is seeking volunteers to help with McFryday Friday. Sign up by Thursday.
Volunteers will collect donations at local stores. Those who give money will receive a coupon for a free order of French fries from McDonald's.
Shifts are available at the following locations: from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Bloomingdale Road and Lake Street, Bloomingdale; 6 to 10 a.m. at Starbucks on State Street, Geneva; 5:30 to 8 a.m. at the Geneva train station and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Wal-Mart, Randall Road and Fabyan Parkway, Batavia.

Go bargain hunting Saturday
The Downers Grove Park District's Flea Market will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Hummer Park, 4833 Fairview Ave. The rain date is Sept. 15.

Lombard's Cruise Night extended
Lombard's Cruise Night event has been extended this year.
The remaining Cruise Nights will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, Sept. 8 and 15, on St. Charles Road between Main and Elizabeth streets.
The September dates are sponsored by Lombard Town Centre.
This week, visitors will be able to vote for their favorite car in the People's Choice contest.
First prize will be a $300 gas card and second prize is a $200 gas card. Both cars will be featured the Unleashed Online calendar. Winners will be announced Sept. 15.
Other activities include Customer Appreciation Night at Fifth/Third Bank Sept. 8, with a band, a dunk tank, a cake walk and free hot dogs.
On Sept. 15, events will include a chance for kids 18 and younger to enter the Unleashed Online pet fashion show, a coloring contest, the "Create-a-Collar" contest, the Lombard Historical Society's ice cream social and music by The StingRays.

Unmask your inner artist Saturday
The DuPage Theatre Visual and Performing Arts Coalition will offer a free mask-making workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and again Sept. 15 at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road, Lombard.
All ages are welcome. Some masks made during these workshops will be displayed around Lombard during Illinois Arts Week in October. Masks made by local artists also will be on display during that time.

Free pet education programs offered
The Hinsdale Humane Society offers a variety of humane education programs free to local schools, teachers and groups.
Programs cover topics such as pet care, responsible pet ownership, pet overpopulation, animal violence and more.
