Benefit to help family of liver cancer victim

A benefit to help the family of Herman Bueno will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Norge Ski clubhouse, 100 Ski Hill in Fox River Grove.

Tickets are $30 at the door. This will include food and drinks, as well as a ski jump exhibition, silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Other highlights will be watching hot air balloons, joining in a bean bag toss competition, or competing in a tug-of-war between Spring Beach and Oberheides. There will be live music by Patchouli.

The 52-year-old died Aug. 14, surrounded by his family, including his wife, Carrie, and daughter, Aimee, after battling liver cancer. The 22-year Cary resident recently taught at Carpentersville Middle School. Previously, he taught at Schaumburg and Woodstock schools. For details, call (847) 630-4328.
