Eli Skinner DAR Chapter Collecting Wool Sweaters

The Community Classroom Committee of the Eli Skinner Chapter of the NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) wants to help you clean out your closets and cedar chests of old sweaters!

We are collecting WOOL SWEATERS (80% wool, cashmere or alpaca) as part of our ROLE (Reaching out Lifting to Excellence) program helping moms make felted wool mittens-which are wool sweaters that have been felted on the outside and lined with polar fleece. Your sweaters can be any color, any size, be in great shape or be well-worn and have a few moth holes, be "in style" or "out of style."

Our chapter member volunteers will be teaching the ROLE moms to make mittens. They will make a pair for themselves or to give as a gift, and then make another pair to be given to a homeless veteran.

You may drop off your sweaters at the Partners for Our Communities (POC) center, 1585 Rand Road, Palatine, IL (behind Walmart).
