n November 8th in Westmont: 'Financial Management in Retirement' Workshop

Being retired from work doesn't mean you are retired from managing your money. In fact, taking a proactive approach in wisely stewarding your funds is a vital step toward maximizing your enjoyment of this special period in your life.

That is a key message of "Financial Management in Retirement," a free hour-long workshop led by retirement planning expert Greg Kurinec on Wednesday, November 8th at the Westmont Park District's Community Center, 75 E. Richmond St.

Starting at 6:30 p.m., Kurinec will teach attendees the nuances of retirement accumulation and distribution planning. His course will review all types of qualified retirement plans, IRAs and distribution rules.

You can register at www.westmontparks.org, call 630-963-5252 or walk in to the park district office.

In addition, the session will touch on managing taxation in retirement and include a discussion of risk management as attendees evaluate risks to their life, health and property. Kurinec, of Downers Grove-based Bentron Financial Group, will wrap up discussion with an explanation of the most common investments used by retirees.

For those familiar with the series of workshops led by Kurinec and Bentron founder Jim Flanagan, "Financial Management in Retirement" picks up right where "Can You Afford to Retire?" leaves off.

Kurinec began with Bentron, based in Downers Grove, in 2004. He has helped people at or near retirement through investment advising, estate planning, risk management and watching out for their overall financial well-being.

A lifelong resident of Orland Park, Kurinec is a graduate of Purdue University's College of Consumer and Family Sciences, having earned degrees in Financial Planning and Counseling, as well as Selling and Sales Management.

In addition to his "Go to Greg" column, which has appeared in the Naperville Patch, Kurinec has served as an expert source and been quoted in publications ranging from Consumer Affairs and Insure.com to FINS Finance and MySuburbanLife.com.

In 2012, after his mother, Jeanne, lost her life to cancer, Greg and his two siblings founded "Jeanne's Journey for Hope" to help other families battle the disease in its many forms. Since then, the foundation has raised more than $75,000 to help families pay hospital and medical bills or as income replacement if the disease has resulted in a loss of employment.

Bentron Financial Group is online at www.bentron.com.
