'The 12 Dames of Christmas' comes to life at ECC Arts Center Dec. 10

Celebrate the season with "The 12 Dames of Christmas" starring award-winning Chicago dynamo Angela Ingersoll Saturday, Dec. 10, at the Elgin Community College Arts Center. Backed by a stellar band, Ingersoll takes audiences on a hilarious and heartwarming journey through the holiday songbook as she applies her impressively versatile voice to holiday classics by 12 legendary songstresses.

The performance starts at 7 p.m. in the Blizzard Theater, 1700 Spartan Drive. It also features an optional preshow dinner.

In this merry musical romp, Ingersoll captures the voices of a rockin' Brenda Lee, a haunting Judy Garland, a purr-fect Eartha Kitt, a proper Julie Andrews, a soulful Edith Piaf, a sultry Marilyn Monroe, and many more. The show's yuletide revels include festive favorites like "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Santa Baby," and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."

"I think Angela Ingersoll has risen as one of Chicago's brightest new artistic lights. I love that one moment her voice can soar, the next it can burst your heart, and then the next she can knock you to the canvas with a single note," says Steve Duchrow, ECC Arts Center's director of performing arts. "When we heard she was doing this show, we couldn't say 'yes' fast enough."

Currently performing the role of Judy Garland in Porchlight Music Theatre's production of "End of the Rainbow," Ingersoll has appeared on stages nationwide including Chicago Shakespeare, Marriott Theatre, Drury Lane, and The Second City Hollywood. "The 12 Dames of Christmas" is presented by Artists' Lounge Live, a concert series produced by Angela and husband Michael Ingersoll ("Under the Streetlamp" member and former "Jersey Boy").

Artists Lounge Live aims to bring the toast of 42nd Street to Main Street, providing audiences intimate concert experiences with tremendous talents.

Tickets to "The 12 Dames of Christmas" are $30.

A preshow dinner prepared by ECC's award-winning Culinary Arts and Hospitality program can be purchased for an additional $29. The menu features tomato bisque soup, chicken Parmesan accompanied by roasted vegetable penne and fresh vegetables, and eggnog panna cotta. Wine and beer are sold separately by the glass. Dinners must be ordered on or before Monday, Dec. 5.

Tickets for both the performance and preshow dinner are available online at tickets.elgin.edu and by phone at (847) 622-0300.
