Jaylanie Rodriguez was perhaps the first child born in the Chicago area in 2016. She was born at 12:01 a.m. Friday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. She weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces.Her mother, Aliyah, said Jaylanie is her first child.

Aitana Michelle Renteriawas born at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin at 12:04 p.m. The baby was 7 lbs, 11oz, and measured 20.5 inches. The family lives in South Elgin.

Nicholas Nachtwey was born at Edward Hospital at 3:11 a.m. He weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and measured 18 inches long. His parents are Jennifer and Benjamin Nachtwey. Nicholas is their first child. The family lives in Oswego.

A baby boy was born to Marisa and Jonathan Pfautz of Batavia at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital at 11:27 a.m. This was the first birth at Delnor. The baby is 22 inches long, weighs 10 pounds. He joins two big brothers and one big sister at home.
