Meet the author Stephanie Arnold, '37 Seconds'

Stephanie Arnold will be at the Stage Left Cafe, 125 W. Van Buren St. in Woodstock, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, for an event hosted by Read Between the Lynes bookstore. She will discuss and sign copies of her new book, "37 Seconds."

Stephanie Arnold, a former television producer, gained national renown when she flatlined for 37 seconds while giving birth to her second child. The amazing part? She had a premonition of the experience months beforehand.

Now, Arnold is sharing her story with readers everywhere in her book "37 Seconds," published by HarperCollins' prominent spiritual imprint HarperOne. She has a powerful message to share with others: if you sense something, say something.

When Arnold had premonitions that she would die giving birth to her son, her doctors attributed her foreboding to hormones and anxiety, since they found no physical indications that anything was wrong. One member of the medical team did take the concerns seriously enough, and made the fateful decision to order extra units of blood "just in case."

Then, during the delivery, Arnold suffered a rare amniotic fluid embolism. She went into cardiac arrest and flatlined for 37 seconds; she died. Using the supplementary blood, the medical team revived her, and she remained unconscious for more than two days.

After weeks of recovery, she began to remember details of her experience, details that came from witnessing the entire dramatic event, including her death, from outside her body. In this remarkable true story, Stephanie recounts her harrowing journey and shares her surprising spiritual discoveries: we are not alone and "have more loving help than we can imagine."
