St. James to host Community Pet Blessing Oct. 3

In honor of Saint Francis, patron saint of pets, community pets are invited to bring their owners to a Community Pet Blessing from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at St. James Episcopal Church, 516 Washington St. (Sixth and Washington) in West Dundee.

A simple prayer service and blessing of each pet will take place in the parish courtyard and driveway. Each pet will receive a Saint Francis medallion to wear proudly on their collars. Owners can bring their pets or photographs for the blessing.

Local pet vendors and shelters will be present for the fun and festivity for young and old. A special raffle for a matching owner and pet blanket will be held during the event.

Raffle tickets are available at St. James now through Oct. 3 for $1 each or six for $5.
