Support workshop focuses on the caregivers

Caregiver stress can often lead to increased risks of depression and physical illness that may impact the ability to provide care.

This series is designed to equip caregivers with the knowledge, skills and support needed to keep their care recipient at home for as long as possible. Toward that end, much of the series focuses on self-care.

The next conference in the series, "Moments Matter: Caring for a Person Living with Dementia," will be held at Family Alliance's Woodstock location, 2028 N. Seminary Ave., Saturday, Aug. 29, and will include the following presenters:

• Dori Thompson - Mneme Therapy and Art Without Boundaries

• Cheryl Levinson, RN, BC - Mindfulness Practices and Memory Loss

• Josh LaVigne, PhD. - Neuropsychology, assessments and the caregiver

The doors open at 8:30 a.m. Sessions generally run from 9:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and are followed by free lunch.
