I harvested caterpillars from my dill plants and kept them in Mason jars, feeding them and cleaning the jars daily. This is the first to emerge. His wings were still wet and he sat drying on a plant outside until he was dry. It's a black swallowtail. Usually only 1 out of 100 survive in nature. Anita Elbe of Winfield

I took this photo this past week at the Lake in the Hills Fen. Had never seen a red Damsel Fly before and on this occasion had only had it in my viewer long enough to get three shots off. This picture was taken while on vacation at Big Cedar Lodge near Branson, MO. I was taking pictures with my mom and deciding what flower to take a picture of when I saw this flower with a brown dot in the middle. When I looked closer I saw that it was a daddy long leg spider.
