Where do you start with employee compensation?

On Thursday, April 9, Stateline Society for Human Resource Management will host a breakfast program title "Considering Employee Compensation … Where Do You Start?", presented by Lisa Kleiner, managing director of LMK Consulting.

Not every organization has the luxury of having a full-time compensation expert on their staff, but all organizations need to determine how to best pay their employees. With the predictions that the recovering economy and job climate will encourage employees to leave current roles for better pay, what do you do? Kleiner will share her experience and expertise on how HR professionals and compensation stakeholders can utilize compensation management to impact their organization.

The program will focus on:

• Understanding the current business climate as it relates to employee pay

• Factors to consider prior to building a compensation program

• Differing approaches used to assign job value

• The steps to developing a market-based base pay salary structure and how to tell if you are competitive

• The importance of communications in the acceptance of pay programs.

This program is pending approval for 1.25 recertification credit hours toward PHR, SPHR and GPHR recertification through the HR Certification Institute and SHRM-CP, SCP certification. Applicable information will be included in on-site materials.

The meeting will be held at the McHenry County SHAH Center located at 4100 W. Shamrock Lane in McHenry and will begin promptly at 7:45 a.m. and will adjourn at 9:45 a.m. Cost is $15 or $30 for non-members, payable by cash or check at the door. Credit card payments can be made online by April 6. Visit stateline.shrm.org for additional information or to make your reservation.
