Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods Seeking Charities

Are any of the charities you work with looking for a great fundraising activity for this Fall? The Rotary Club of Long Grove, Kildeer, Hawthorn Woods is seeking charities for their upcoming 2015 Long Grove Heritage 5K Run and 3K Walk. Each year, the Club partners with participating local nonprofit organizations to raise money and awareness for their worthy causes. They are signing up charities now. Registration for runners/walkers opens in mid-June.

This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015 Check-in/registration is from 6:30 am - 8:00 am at the Kildeer Countryside School, 3100 Old McHenry Rd in downtown Long Grove, which is just northwest of Routes 53 and 83. The 5K Run and 3K Walk will both commence at 8:30 A.M. The Registration Fee includes breakfast, T-shirt, bag, trophies, and awards. Each of the participating 501c3 charities set their own registration fees.

The event has been held annually since 1998, typically the first Saturday after Labor Day. The Club conducts the race and provides the complete infrastructure. The charities focus on recruiting participants and sharing their story with businesses and individuals to raise money for their cause.

Charities make money on the event by having participants solicit pledges in support of their walk or run effort. A brochure provides a pledge form that can be used, or participants may use our on-line pledge site. Corporate giving and matching funds programs also provide contributions for the charities.

Charities participating in last year's event included: Anthony James Brust Memorial Foundation, Center on Deafness, Christopher Steele Foundation, EXODUS World Services, Faith Acres Foundation, Mother's Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, PADS Lake County, Rotary District 6440, The Center for Enriched Living, and True North Treks. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
