Winners named for Dundee Lions beanbag tournament

The winners for the annual Dundee Township Lions Bean Bag tournament on Aug. 23 were Todd Pliuksis and Jess Martinez. Fortunately, the host, Diamond Jim's had space to play both inside and out as the sudden rain on Saturday forced the event to be quickly moved to the inside.

Nick Theis, the Lions event chairman, noted this was an extremely competitive tournament but fun. He reported most all of the players play every week and come from all over the Chicago area. Because of the enthusiasm expressed by the players, the Lions are considering expanding the tournament to 32 teams. Players especially like the option of going inside if needed as well as the food, drink and atmosphere at Diamond Jim's and East Dundee.

Aside from the tournament, the Lions offered numerous raffles to add to the enjoyment. Some of the bigger prizes were golf outings and a beautiful baggo set from Diamond Jim's. All profits from the tournament will go to local charities.

If you want to get in on the fun of planning an event with the Lions, come and join them at one of the club meetings at the Village Squire in West Dundee. Call club president Jim McClung at (847) 567-7127 for further information.
