Nominate a patriot to be honored at Sept. 11 event

Sept. 11, 2001, left an indelible mark on the conscience of our nation. Since then, the nation has rallied and prayer has increased. The call today is to do more than just remember. Nominate a patriot, bring her to the dinner to be honored by Women Serving with Dignity & Grace. Visit www.womenservingwithdignityandgrace.com for details.

Join them on Thursday, Sept. 11, for the fourth annual Community Recognition Awards Dinner. The theme for this year's event is "Patriot: Take a Stand for Freedom!"

They will honor women who display exceptional acts of patriotism. This event will be will be held at the Holiday Inn, 495 Airport Road, Elgin. It begins with a meet-and-greet at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $38 per person, and can be purchased online at www.womenservingwithdignityandgrace.com through Event Brite. Tickets may also be purchased through the mail by sending in your order and the names of attendees to Women Serving, P.O. Box 5395, Elgin, IL 60121; only checks will be accepted. Ticket sales end Monday, Sept. 8. All tickets must be prepaid.

Do you have a child in sixth to 12th grade? They can enter the art contest. Details are available online at www.womenservingwithdignityandgrace. There will be a $100 prize for the first-place entry. Students simply create a painting or drawing, 8½ by 11 inches that is a pencil sketch, chalk rendering, or watercolor; several students may work together to create a mural that is no larger than 36 by 64 inches. Artwork is displayed at the dinner. Winning student will be recognized at the dinner.
