Elgin Venture Crew to host open house Aug. 12

Can you picture you and your friends camping for a weekend? How about participating in events where every Venturing Crew in the region is in attendance? Or contributing to the community, growing as individuals, groups and leaders? Or even outdoor activities like canoeing or more challenging "High Adventure" activities a few times a year? These are exactly the kind of activities we do in Venturing Crew 654, and so much more!

You and your friends are invited to a brief meeting to hear more about how you can be doing these activities and more. The meeting will be Tuesday, Aug. 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the "Movie in the Park" at Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave., Elgin.

Stop by and enjoy "Turbo" with us! Ask us questions about Venturing, the purpose of a crew and what we do within our crew. Ask us anything and we have the answers! If you are interested in joining, please stay behind a few minutes after the movie and we can provide you with more information about the crew and the registration process.

Venturing is a teenage, coed program of the Boy Scouts of America, open to youth, age 14 to 20. We teenagers choose, plan and run all of our own activities! Our purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and prepare themselves to become responsible and caring adults.

Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders and organizations in their communities. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills and become good citizens. Crews specialize in a variety of hobbies, interests and activities, all determined by the youth!
