Holiday Happenings at Addison Park District

December is almost here with opportunities galore to celebrate the holidays or begin new family traditions with the Addison Park District.

Start a new holiday tradition this year with your family by creating your own personalized Holiday Yard Card! Kits, painting supplies and space to decorate your card are provided by Addison Park District. Each kit contains a 4'x5' piece of primed plywood (or 3'x4' condo-sized card), supporting tree braces, a spotlight and the paint to decorate it. Get as creative or festive as you want. Your decorative Yard Card can be stored and displayed year after year. Call (630) 233-7275 before December 14 to reserve your card and schedule time to paint with your family.

Santa is making a special stop in Addison collecting wish-lists from area children on Saturday, December 14. Kids of all ages are invited to Breakfast with Santa at Community Rec. Center, 120 E. Oak Street at either 8:30 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served and kids can play reindeer games. Remember to bring your camera to take a picture with Santa. Pre-registration is required as tickets will not be sold at the door. For tickets to this event, call (630) 233-7275.

If hanging holiday lights is one of your seasonal traditions, then discovering non-working lights may be one too! The Addison Park District is recycling holiday lights for residents this year with collection boxes located at both Community Rec Center and Club Fitness/Centennial Rec Center. Now through January 17th, 2014, residents can drop off old holiday lights, in working or non-working order during normal operating hours. Lights that will be accepted include: mini-lights (or Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords.

The Addison Park District is committed to providing the highest quality recreational opportunities and open space for everyone. The 2013-14 Winter Fun Guide is available in each facility and online at www.addisonparks.org with a full curriculum of leisure activities for all ages and lifestyles.
