Alesna powers Libertyville
Izzy made ’em dizzy with excitement again.
Izzy Alesna’s three-run triple drove in the tying and go-ahead runs, as Libertyville’s softball team pulled out a 12-11 nonconference win over Niles North on Thursday.
Alesna, who had 3 hits and 3 RBI in the Wildcats’ win over Lake Forest on Wednesday, finished 3-for-5.
Tayler Oberman (2-for-4, 2 runs) and Madi Dembinski (2-for-3) each had a pair of doubles for Libertyville. Jamie Stevens (2-for-3) and Margaret Haws (1-for-3) also doubled. Carlie Haraden also had 2 hits for the Wildcats.
Mundelein 16, Highland Park 2: Chloe Peterson homered, Amanda Diaz tripled and Maddie Zazas doubled for the Mustangs (24-10), who won the nonconference game in five innings.
Crystal Lake South 2, Grayslake C. 0: Brittany Brown went 1-for-2 for the Rams and allowed only 1 earned run in a complete-game effort.
Sam McLean homered and singled for the Gators.
Lake Zurich 10, Vernon Hills 0: Olivia Schneider threw a five-inning no-hitter, striking out seven.
Katie Brown (3 stolen bases) and Kaylee Grant (RBI) each had 2 hits for the Bears. Maria Schroeder had a single, an RBI and 2 stolen bases for Lake Zurich (18-9).
