Downers Grove North’s Heflin throws perfect game

Elaine Heflin tossed her second perfect game of the season, striking out 14, and No. 8 Downers Grove North beat York 5-0 on Friday.

Carolyn Nojiri and Annie Lusher homered for the Trojans (10-5, 3-0 West Suburban Silver), and Heflin (9-3) did the rest.

Waubonsie Valley 11, Lake Park 1:Amanda Lack homered to lead off the game, and Amanda Minahan, Megan Grannan and Mel Koulos later went deep for the No. 9 Warriors (14-3, 8-1 Upstate Eight Conference) in Roselle. Koulos#146; was a three-run shot in the sixth, and Waubonsie broke it open with a sixth-run seventh. Winning pitcher Shannon Hohman (12-3) struck out five. Winning pitcher Lauren Trojnar (9-2) struck out eight.
