Palatine Park Foundation Funds Arts Scholarship

The Palatine Park Foundation was formed in October 1994 to assist the Palatine Park District in its continuing commitments of service to the community. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. All donations that are received are fully tax deductible as charitable contributions. The vision of the foundation is:

• To contribute to the health and well-being of Palatine Park District residents;

• To provide program scholarship opportunities to residents with financial limitations;

• To assist in the funding of projects or events that provide physical accessibility to all; and

• To preserve open space throughout the Palatine Park District.

One of the scholarships offered by the foundation is Susannah's Gift. This scholarship fund has been established in memory of Susannah Kist to assist Palatine Park District residents or groups who need financial assistance to participate in Palatine Park District cultural arts activities. Susannah Kist taught theater, music, and craft classes for the Palatine Park District for 16 years before losing her battle with breast cancer on December 4, 2009. To date, over $6,700 has been raised to assist 43 children in the fulfillment of their artistic dreams.

To make a donation to Susannah's Gift Scholarship Fund, checks made payable to the Palatine Park Foundation can be mailed to Carol Lange, Palatine Park District, 250 E. Wood Street, Palatine, IL 60067. For more information, contact Carol Lange, Cultural Arts Coordinator, at 847-496-6237 or clange@palatineparks.org.

The mission of Palatine Park District is to provide a variety of safe, enjoyable and affordable parks and recreation facilities and activities that will enhance the quality of life by promoting good health and well-being for all residents and visitors of the Palatine Park District.
